These wrap around a coiled cable and press shut with a snap, so the loop holds instead of unravelling somewhere between the desk and the door. The fabric is soft on the outside and padded through the middle, which keeps the button off the cable jacket where it usually bends. Keep one on the laptop lead and one on the earphones.
